A Dark Folklore Anthology for Save the Children

Blurb

Some stories paint us sweet, told to children as they fall asleep.

Mother Earth she weaves the world with a whirl of her magic, and her kind embrace shapes us all. Father Time keeps us all, ever constant, ever moving onwards, for time never stands still.

Icy hands and a frozen touch, Jack Frost ushers in the cold snap, coating the earth with sparkly delights. If Jack brings cold, May Queen brings warmth, her delicate touch bringing forth the spring.

Follow the rainbow and maybe you’ll find, a Leprechaun with his lucky pot of gold.

The watchful eyes of Man in the Moon keeps all of the secrets of the night, shining down on us with his silvery light. The Sandman is here to soothe you to sleep, bringing all to slumber with a pinch of magic dust. Shhh, sleep now. Beware the Boogeyman lurking out of sight, waiting under your bed, to catch naughty children in the night. Be good little children, for Santa is watching, and he knows if you've been naughty or nice.

Tales of lore, fair music to our ears. Can you hear it? Did you know? Not every tale is sweet. The truth is darker, our stories more twisted, unlike the rhymes that children hear.

All proceeds will be donated to Save the Children.

This is a mixed M/F and M/M anthology that contains trigger warnings for its dark content.

It is intended for a mature audience of 18+.

My review:

I only read the m/m books, but let me say I was a bit dissapointed. As the title says, it's a dark anthology. So my only question is: where is the darkness? Because I couldn't find it anywhere...

The m/m stories:

Black Ice Heart by Abrianna Danae ; the folklore part was good, the storytelling and characters were cool and it held my attention. But the story ended abrouptly and wasn't dark at all. It was just a lukewarm story.

Tooth Fairy Lies by Emma Jaye ; It was the only story which was at least dark, and it was interesting and exciting too. Loved reading it and the only probleme with it was that it was too short. I think it has a longer version in the Lies series, or just a similar one, i'm not sure. But it has potential. So yeah, this story was good.

Deadlock Time Clock by Leigh Kenzie ; This story was the shortest of all, and it had dark elements - like murdering without a blink of an eye. I liked reading it, the story flew fast and the dialogues were good. But after a while it was boring too. The ending was cute though.

He Sees You When You're Sleeping by Sara Dobie Bauer ; This was the best of all. Exciting, emotional. Wasn't dark, but I enjoyed it.

Don't Mess with Mother Nature by T.S. McKinney ; I don't know what to think about this story. It was a good threesome, but I didn't get the folklore part and dark?! Where? It was just a normal story with a threesome - which wasn't erotic or dark at all.

So after all yeah, I'm dissapointed. I thought it would be more darker and I would enjoy it more. It wasn't a bad experience, I liked reading those stories, I read them all to the end.
I recommend it thought, because it's for Save the Children , and I only read the m/m stories - so who knows, the m/f stories might be better? Only one way to find out - but not for me. Chech it out for yourself if you want, I think those stories are good too if you're into m/f.

Thank you for the chance for reading this anthology. It wasn't my favorite, but I still enjoyed some.
