Nothing brings two men—or one man and an ancient god—together like revenge.
Private investigator Sloane sacrificed his career in law enforcement in pursuit of his parents’ murderer. Like them, he is a follower of long-forgotten gods, practicing their magic and offering them his prayers… not that he’s ever gotten a response.
Until now.
Azaethoth the Lesser might be the patron of thieves and tricksters, but he takes care of his followers. He’s come to earth to avenge the killing of one of his favorites, and maybe charm the pants off the cute detective Fate has placed in his path. If he has his way, they’ll do much more than bring a killer to justice. In fact, he’s sure he’s found the man he’ll spend his immortal life with.
Sloane’s resolve is crumbling under Azaethoth’s surprising sweetness, and the tentacles he sometimes glimpses escaping the god’s mortal form set his imagination alight. But their investigation gets stranger and deadlier with every turn. To survive, they’ll need a little faith… and a lot of mystical firepower.
Excerpt
“I’m sorry,” Loch said suddenly, his attention stolen away from the television and focusing intently on Sloane.
“What?” Sloane turned his head, staring in shock. He didn’t think gods were much on apologies.
“I obviously caused you great discomfort with my actions earlier today,” Loch explained, his hand reaching for Sloane’s, “and yes, while I am a trickster… I don’t aim to always be a complete bastard.”
“Loch,” Sloane murmured softly, surprised by how genuinely sorry he sounded.
“I got this for you,” Loch said, a tentacle reaching over to present Sloane with an incense bowl. “It upset you, but… it also brought you joy. I thought you might like to have it.”
“This is from the museum!” Sloane gasped, recognizing it immediately as the one that had reminded him of his mother’s. “You stole this? Loch! How did you, it, it was in a glass case! We need to take it back!”
“Technically, the museum stole it from my family,” Loch said smugly. “It was an offering for my aunt, and I was merely making an effort to return it to its rightful owner. Since she’s asleep, it’s my responsibility to liberate it on her behalf. I am now giving it to you.”
“I can’t… I can’t accept this!”
“Don’t you like it?”
“Yes, but—”
“Then please take it,” Loch urged, “with my most sincere apologies.”
“Thank you.” Sloane was touched and looked over the bowl with a helpless smile. It was as good of an apology as he would likely ever get from an immortal being, with or without the well meaning theft. Suspicious, he added quickly, “I’m still not going to have sex with you.”
“We’ll see.” Loch laughed, giving Sloane’s hand a playful tug.
“No, we won’t,” Sloane said despite a big grin creeping onto his face. He didn’t pull his hand away, letting their fingers tangle together even after he put the incense bowl aside. It felt nice.
A few more sips from his drink and Sloane ended up cuddling against Loch’s side with his arm around his shoulders. That was nice too.
“Do you… uhm… do you want something to eat?” Sloane asked quietly as the hour grew late, and he realized that sandwich was the only thing either of them had had all day.
“I don’t require sustenance,” Loch replied, smirking fondly down at Sloane. “Immortal, remember?”
“Right. Uhm….”
“Would you like… something?” Loch asked innocently, his tongue swiping slowly over his lips to indicate he was definitely not talking about food.
Sloane’s cheeks flushed immediately, his attention drawn to Loch’s mouth as he stammered, “N-no, I’m actually pretty good right now.”
Loch shifted, using his arm around Sloane’s shoulders to pull him closer. He cradled Sloane’s face, fingers running into his hair as he purred, “Are you absolutely sure?”
No one had ever looked at Sloane the way Loch was right now, with such heat, such adoration and raw desire. It made his blood pump excitedly and his breath catch in his mouth before he could properly inhale.
“Not really,” Sloane replied weakly.
Loch nosed along Sloane’s cheek, sighing, “Why are you so afraid to let yourself experience pleasure with me?”
“I don’t just go around ‘experiencing pleasure’ with people!” Sloane protested even as his voice cracked when he felt Loch’s tongue slide along the edge of his ear. “Fuck….”
“Why not?” Loch asked, his breath hot and husky in Sloane’s ear.
“Because… because….” Sloane couldn’t think straight, stammering to think of an answer. It was impossible to gather his thoughts with Loch’s tongue at his ear and his fingers curling so sweetly through his hair.
“Because?” Loch pressed, calm and perfectly innocent.
“When I’m with someone, I want it to mean something,” Sloane said finally, his head foggy and trying to remain firm. “I want something that will last.”
“It can last all night,” Loch promised, his lips lightly pressing against Sloane’s jaw. “And the night after that… and the night after that….”
“Fuck it,” Sloane hissed, dragging Loch into a hot kiss, shoving his tongue into his mouth with a loud moan.

My review:
OHMYGOD! This book is perfection! I loved every page of it and ejnoyed the hell out of it! It has everything I love - great world building, ancient gods, little mystery, awesome characters, cute romance, HOT erotica ...and TENTACLES. Do you still have questions why to read it?!
Loch was a really, really good character, I loved him. And Sloane, aww he was adorable, and I loved how Sloane and Loch got together. But my favorite was the Idiot sandwich reference! I laughed so hard! Loch is just too much for words♥
Really loved reading this book, it held my interest. I couldn't and wouldn't put it down, read it in one go. And the ending, ohmy! It was full with tension and LOVED it so much.
It was really a good story with well written scenes and characters, and with amazing emotions.

Author Interview:
AUTHOR NAME: K.L. Hiers
Introduce yourself and your writing
Hi! My name is K.L. “Kat” Hiers, and I absolutely love writing M/M romance. I’m probably best known for my BDSM and erotica work, but I also love writing paranormal mystery romances. I also like cheap red wine, big eyebrows, and barbeque chicken wings.
Tell us about your new release. What inspired you to write it?
It all started when a friend requested some tentacle smut for her birthday. Other than having seen some hentai like La Blue Girl, I didn’t know much about the ins and outs of tentacle lovin’. I decided just to go for it, and I had so much freakin’ fun! My friend loved her smutty little gift and asked me if I was going to be writing more… and that’s when I realized I had a big problem.
I wanted to keep writing tentacle shenanigans, but I needed some sort of universe where it would make sense for beings to have them and interact with mortals. What I needed was a plot and desperately so. I knew that aliens were a popular option for this genre, but that didn’t feel right. Having loved fantasy while growing up, I decided to create an entire brand-new magical religion - all for the sake of writing steamy tentacle sex.
H.P. Lovecraft was an obvious choice to check out after I had decided to go with tentacle gods, but he actually wrote very little about any actual religion for his Old Ones. There is no clear pantheon for the deities, no set holidays, no rites of worship, and no rituals. I made all of that up with some help from Celtic and Pagan traditions with a splash of Norse and my own crazy ideas.
I actually got more inspiration for my books from Cast A Deadly Spell, a movie based on Lovecraft’s work about a detective in a magical noir world. If you haven’t seen it, I highly recommend it.
How did you decide on the title?
Oh, because I think I’m funny. I love puns, and I’m happy to say that all the titles in this series are funny little puns like Kraken My Heart or An Inkredible Love. I wanted a title that made it clear we were going to be dealing with tentacle adventures, but also show some of the humor because these stories are meant to be a lot lighter than some of my other books.
Do you have any advice for other writers?
Never give up and take the time to learn about the industry.
Seriously. I first tried to get published about fifteen years ago, and it was a disaster. The book was a very trashy M/F story about demons, and I can’t even stand to read it now without cringing miserably. There was so much that I didn’t know about the publishing world back then, and I know now that my ignorance was part of why I got so many rejection letters.
Before you try getting published, do your research. Understand what sort of books specific publishers are looking for before you try submitting your manuscript. Make sure the publisher you’re about to send your sexy demon erotica to isn’t a children’s publisher, things like that. And even when you do all the right things and get those rejection letters, keep going. If writing is what you truly love to do and it’s all you think about, don’t ever give up.
Are there any genres you prefer to write and if so, why?
BDSM is very soothing to me, and it’s probably my favorite. I love the elements of control and trust, the push and pull, and it’s so much fun to let go when I’m writing those types of scenes. I don’t have to worry about censoring any sexy time scenes because a certain level of detail is expected in that genre. I can just cut loose and let my characters get into whatever naughty shenanigans they want!
Are any of your characters based on you or people you know?
Oh, for sure! Rowena Legrand from my CHC series is based on one of my best friends who used to carry this giant purse and was known to be pretty fierce with a high heel. She’s read the book, but I don’t think she’s actually realized that Rowena is based on her.
Christine Beccali from Hard Earned Cash was a thank you to an old buddy that I used to play World of Warcraft with. She’s a lawyer and helped me out with the legal aspects of the plot. I used her WoW character name for Christine’s surname, and there might be some truth to that “Face Fucker” legend…
But if I ever tell it, she will probably hunt me down, so that little story has to stay buried for now, ha!
Do you have a favourite character and/or book you've written? Who, what and why?
Azaethoth the Lesser from my Sucker For Love Series is my favorite character ever. He’s just so much fun, and he’s the most unpredictable. I literally have no idea what he’s going to do when I start writing him. He can be so very oblivious and has his own little way of seeing the world, especially since it’s still sort of “his” world being a god and all. But he’s also so sweet, passionate, and having absolutely zero filter allows me to give him some of the best freakin’ dialogue.
Do characters and stories just pop into your head, or do you take your time thinking about and planning them?
Both. I’ll get the idea for a character and this epic grand finale, some great climactic scene, and then I realize that I have to write an entire book before I get to that part! That’s usually how I write though – I always know the ending before I start a new story, and I have to build an outline as sort of a map to guide me there. Outlines help control my spontaneous brain and keeps me more or less on track as I’m writing.
Are you a cat person or a dog person? Tell us about your pets.
I’m an everything person. I’ve owned dogs, cats, snakes, rats, hamsters, guinea pigs, rabbits, and fish. At the moment, thought, I only have three kitty cats. My old lady, Merrick, is a giant tabby cat who likes to open doors and insists on being right in your face when you pet her. My young man, Crowley, is a sleek little panther fellow who enjoys snuggling with his tongue blepping out of his mouth. My youngest is a tiny little lady named Quigs who is the single clingiest cat that I’ve ever owned, and she will steal all of your cuddles. And then probably your food.
Are there big events in your life that affect your writing?
Having kids! Whew! That’s probably one of the biggest events that can happen in anyone’s life, and I ended up with three of these adorable little monsters! I have a son and twin daughters that are the freakin’ light of my life. And while I do love them, of course, that whole parenting thing puts a bit of a damper on my writing. It’s a big part of why I do so much of my writing at night because I wait until they’ve all gone off to bed! Ha!
If you were stranded on a desert island, what three things would you want there with you?
Wine, laptop, and Wifi. I think I could survive for a good while as long as I had entertainment and booze!
THANK YOU
