Not So Sincerely, Yours Cover

For Him, Book 2

Ethan,
About last night... I could blame the bourbon. I could say I let things get out of hand, that I should have never called you, but I'm done lying to myself—to you. I know what you're going to say. You're not very good at keeping your opinions to yourself, but this can't happen. It's inappropriate, at best. I'm your boss. Not to mention, you're clearly still hung up on him. I'm not a consolation prize.

Anders~

**

Anders,
You didn't think it was inappropriate when you had your tongue down my throat, but I digress. As for your accusation, I'm not the only one stuck in the past, but at least I'm not running from it. I can't believe I'm about to say this… Maybe you're right. You shouldn’t have called me. Especially if you never intended to own it. Own that you wanted it to happen. Admit that you wanted me.

Not so sincerely,
Yours

Excerpt:

Ethan. Leaning back in my chair, I took in his appearance as he shoved his hands into the pockets of his gray slacks. His hair was damp, a few stray pieces falling over his forehead, dusting his brow line. The sleeves of his blue button down were rolled to his elbows, exposing the lean muscle of his forearms. His pants hugged his thighs as he walked into the room. He even had on a tie. I’d be lying if I said he didn’t look fantastic. His usual cocky demeanor faded as I met his eyes.

“You showed up.” Ethan’s scowl was comical.

“On time.”

I checked my watch, knowing it would piss him off. I couldn’t explain my need to rile him like I did. Our last few email exchanges had made me laugh as much as they’d infuriated me. He was flippant in a way I envied. It made me want to pick at him even more. It was too easy. As predicted, Ethan’s shoulders stiffened, and he sighed.

“I’m running for coffee with Nora,” he said, the strain in his voice evident. “Did you want us to grab you anything?”

“That’s thoughtful of you,” I said and meant it, despite my sarcastic tone. He’d made an effort today, showing up dressed to kill. It pleased me.

“Thoughtful?” Ethan’s lip twitched, holding back a smile. “I figured it was part of my job.”

“Oh…well…”I dropped his gaze and opened up the files I needed for my morning meeting. “In that case, I’ll have an Americano.”

“Do you always get the same thing?”

“Yes…Why? Is that a problem?”

“It’s boring. You should try new things, Anders. You might be surprised.”

I raised my eyes and found his smug smile had returned. Was he mocking me or flirting? Both were inappropriate. “I don’t like surprises. They leave too much room for disappointment.”

“You’re depressing before you’ve had coffee.”

“Usually,” I said as sardonic as ever. He laughed, soft and husky, unflappable. “I’ll make sure they give you an extra shot of espresso then.”

My review:

★★★★★

YES!

perfect

adjective
/ˈpəːfɪkt/

Having all the required or desirable elements, qualities, or characteristics; as good as it is possible to be.

And I think I said it all with that one word.

Come on, this book is perfect as it is. In and out. But mostly the inside. Oh sweet jesus, it was everything I didn't know I needed. The perfect boss/employee romance, the perfect hate/love relationship, the perfect 'I'm afraid of hurting again' love story, ever!

Ethan and Anders were perfect on their own, but together, wow, no words. I didn't know that Anders will be Ethan's love interest when I started the book and it was such a surprise for me. Loved it! I wanted Ethan to get his HEA and Anders was the perfect choice for him.

The author's writing style is so good, I love how she uses the words and how her characters are real-like. But my favorites are still the chat/message parts. I love those in books, it gives so much depth and realness to the characters. Loved the banter between Ethan and Anders and loved that Ethan was so easy with him and couldn't care less that he is messaging his boss.

They were so sweet, and I loved that Wild and Jax and Jason were there too. This book is really perfection. Much, much better then the first book.

Highly recommend it!

The Age of Man has passed, and a new age is upon the Earth. An age of magic and technology ruled by the supernatural beings that once hid amongst humanity has begun.

Talos - Vampyr King, Supernatural Council Member, and Despiser of Humans. Fate has a surprise up their sleeve for him.

Bayne - Raised by the human resistance, Would-be Assassin, and Despiser of Supernatural Beings. He's ready to sacrifice himself to kill his enemy.

Bayne is thrust into a world he thinks he knows but quickly discovers his whole life has been built on lies. Talos, perfectly happy ruling his corner of the world, is faced with an unexpected and unwelcome change that comes with the mate chosen by Fate. Together they must discover how to live and, in the end, love one another. But will Fate have more in store for them than just learning to love the species they hate?

Bloodlines of Fate is a new urban fantasy series set in a world destroyed by humans and resurrected by supernatural beings. Fate has many plans for the vampires, fae, unicorns, therianthropes, and humans of this new world. While their mates may be fated, learning to love isn't that easy.

This book contains depictions of gladiatorial combat, snarky fem twinks who will cut you, kings in stilettos, and awkward heats with a pinch of daddy kink.

Excerpt

Talos strode calmly into his office. His skin tingled with pins and needles all over. Odin and Majid were on his heels, and Majid closed the door behind him. Talos leaned on his teak desk as his discovery crashed into him. Claws extended from his fingertips and dug into the dense wood, marring its polished surface.

"Why of all days would this happen today?" Talos asked Fate.

"Brother, what is it?" Odin closed in and put a reassuring hand on Talos' back, but it made his skin crawl. He shrugged Odin off and turned back around.

"It's him." Talos still couldn't believe it. He wanted to race to his bedroom to confirm it, but he had to wait.

Majid cocked his head and narrowed his eyes. "What do you mean, it's him?"

Talos looked up at Odin and realization dawned on Odin's face. "Oh, him him?" Talos could only nod. His throat constricted.

"I knew I had to come to you, Brother. And it seems this is why. I was there when our father found his beloved, your pa."

Talos sat on the edge of the desk, crossed his arms, and massaged his temples with one hand. Majid stepped closer, started to put his hand on Talos, then took his hand back with an apologetic smile.

"Congratulations on finding your mate, my old friend."

Talos raised his head with a weary smile. "Thank you, and that was a magnificent display in there. I'll never tire of seeing you get horny." Talos chuckled softly. "Although my new mate called you a horse. Apparently, he's never heard of a black unicorn."

Majid snorted. "He's lucky I can't read his thoughts like you can," he scowled.

Odin's deep booming laugh caused Majid to snort again. Odin cleared his throat nervously, trying to cut off his laughter.

"Your idea to let one of the other resistance members through with him was good. It gave me an idea as to what kind of man my mate is. He was scared but he held his ground. His stubbornness to see his mission through shored him up. It's going to be interesting to see how he reacts to spending an eternity with us leeches."

Majid smirked. "You know how much I like a good impaling."

"I got something you can impale." Odin shook his butt at Majid and Talos snorted out a laugh.

Majid ignored Odin's interruption. "Your mate jumped a little, but you're right. He held steady even when I slowly killed that weakling." He scoffed in disgust. "Like anyone that weak would have made it through the selection process. It's a wonder they survived the games. They were lucky to have been killed by me."

"It is quite an honor. I think it's been a full month since you've impaled someone in the throne room." Talos rubbed his forehead. His skin continued to tingle. "I won't be able to bond with him until his blood is clean."

"Gideon is having the hemodialysis machine brought to your chambers along with a bed he can be properly restrained on. The doctors estimate it'll only take two rounds for his blood to be cleaner than when he was born," Majid reassured Talos.

"He will fight. I have no doubt. And we will most likely have to sedate him," Talos added.

"The sooner you get it done, the better, brother. Your body will not allow you to wait too long."

"It's almost dawn now." Talos looked at the clock on his wall. "Go to bed. Majid will stay up with me to watch over my mate."

My review:

Do you ever felt the urge to re-read the book exactly the moment after you finished it? Or the moment BEFORE you even finished it? Because I felt this way way before the end, I just wanted to re-read this book, I wanted to be with Talos Bayne and Kikoi again, and I just wanted to spend more time with them in this world.

This book was more then amazing. I never thought it would be this awesome, it's my new favorite! The story, the characters, the writing style, the world building - everything was perfect.

Loved Kikoi with Talos and their Daddy/boy thing, it was so sweet. Loved Odin and Majid - and can't wait them to find their third. And Bayne, he was sweet too, and loved how he changed and fell in love with Talos. Talos and Bayne together was really great, and OMG Talos is such a marshmallow inside, he is so cute just awwww♥ And when they mated and Talos' body changed, and oh wow! That scene was so HOT. I love mating and heat scenes, and my only problem with that scene that it was way too short. But the whole book was way too short in my opinion. I just NEED more.

Unique story, interesting storyline, amazing characters and HOT scenes. LOVED this book so much! And really can't wait Majid&Odin's story, and I hope we got to see more Talos&Bayne&Kikoi. Perfect story. Highly recommend it!
